I’ve traipsed through tiny fishing villages near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; hiked in the rainforests of Costa Rica while howler monkeys screeched overhead; gazed up at the majestic three gorges while cruising down the polluted Yangze River in China; and basked in the hot, dry Anguilla sun. All in pursuit of the ultimate story.

Yet, sometimes writing the "ultimate" story isn’t quite so exciting. Sometimes it means hunkering down at my desk, fielding phone calls, researching subjects on the Internet, and preparing questions for a hard-to-nail interview with a Fortune 500 company CEO.

And, sometimes I’m not actually writing a magazine or newspaper story at all -- at least not in the traditional sense. Sometimes my work entails collaborating with corporations to conceptualize and develop marketing materials.
